Thank you for your interest in joining the Port Hueneme Police Explorers, Post 9988. Our application and selection process helps ensure that each candidate is prepared to uphold the values, responsibilities, and professional standards of the program.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
Demonstrate good character and responsible conduct. Criminal history, recent arrests or citations, prior drug use, and other conduct-related concerns may be considered during the selection process.
Agree to participate in a thorough background investigation.
Be in good mental and physical health and able to participate safely in program activities.
Maintain a minimum 2.5 grade-point average while enrolled in school.
Obtain permission from a parent or legal guardian when under 18 years of age.
Submit all required forms, including signed liability-release and medical-waiver forms when applicable.
Background Investigation
Every applicant must successfully complete a background investigation conducted by a Port Hueneme Police Department Explorer Advisor.
The investigation may include a review of the applicant’s criminal history, school history, employment history, personal references, and overall character. Current or former teachers, employers, supervisors, and references may also be contacted as part of the process.
Applicants must provide complete, accurate, and truthful information throughout the application and background process. Providing false information, withholding relevant information, or being dishonest may result in disqualification from the program.
